Strength Training and Love, together?
Not something you would typically read about on a strength training and purpose focused blog.
But yet, it is necessary.
Why? And how? You might be asking; great question!
Love is actually central in the theme of strength training.
Love is necessary to living out our purpose.
Without Love, growth doesn't happen.
Without God, there is no love or purpose in life.
The theme of strength and growing stronger parallels an idea which, God has been teaching for thousands of years. Process.
Rarely, if ever, do we get what we want when we want it.
No, typically, we get what we need when we need it to enhance our trust and faith in God.
Strength is no different.
God has called us to live by the fruits of the spirit;
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law." (Galatians 5:22-23)
By these fruits we are to live and we are to "Love your neighbors as yourself" (Mark 12:31)
You have probably heard of the fruits and to love your neighbors but you are still wondering how this parallels or even relates to the process of strength training.
God is a God of process, as I mentioned, rarely do things just happen and change.
No, God is looking for more than an instant fix.
God is wanting you to experience something greater; love, abundance and joy in life through him.
Similarly, Strength is a process. We don't workout one time and increase our strength by 100%. Nor do we fix a technique in an instant.
Growing stronger is a process.
Growing stronger is an opportunity to experience life as it was intended from God. A life of movement, joy, abundance, love and faith.
When we are able to move freely we can experience life in a way God intended.
God wants us to enjoy this life, not that we won't have trials but there is a joy God has given us through our bodies and our bodies abilities.
Our bodies and abilities are not even the greatest joy he has given us.
Salvation through Jesus Christ is the greatest joy but being able to use our bodies as God intended is a wonderful gift in this life.
Now, about the fruits of the Spirit.
How do they relate?
To truly enjoy the benefits of strength training and love:
-You must have patience
-You must love the work
-You must have faith that God will give you growth through the process
-It benefits you to be kind and gentle to those around you
-Self control is a must in
I believe there is a clear parallel in how we train and how we are called to live as God's people by the fruit of the holy spirit.
And, let me not forget, "love your neighbors as yourself."
First step there is to love yourself.
Which means take care of the body God has given you.
Conscientiously control what your putting into your body and your mind.
Conscientiously use your body in a way that benefits not only you but those around you.
By following this command and living by the fruits of the spirit you may add years to your life, maybe not.
But you will for sure experience a more joyful and abundant life during the years of your life.
